Abstract

Get-go marriage decrement tables are constructed for unmarried-yr birth cohorts from 1880 through the early 1960s, and for single agenda years from 1900 through 1979. The information are from censuses and sample surveys and are presented separately for blacks and whites by sex. Prior to 1948, changes in matrimony probabilities were dominated past relatively short-term fluctuations. Post-obit Earth War II, markedly elevated marriage probabilities for all groups occurred merely in the 1970s spousal relationship probabilities savage chop-chop. The almost recent data suggest that matrimony probabilities may have stabilized at levels close to those observed before the second world state of war.
